Adelaide is renowned for its restaurants.
The city is credited with being the birthplace
of modern Australian cuisine.
Some of the best restaurants are tiny and crowded, with fast service and super cheap prices. Others are set in historic buildings, serving international class cuisine in gracious surroundings. Hindley street offers a wide range of cosmopolitan eating. Gouger street, near 1l : central market, is known as s10 street if you can't get a good meal for less than $10, you're in the wrong streets is particularly noted for its seafood cab and South Australian seafood is something special.
Adelaide also has some fine old pubs some are friendly 'locals', others restaurants, wine bars and dance floors. The old lion hold in north Adelaide is a handsome 1880s bluestone building with a first class restaurant, a sheltered courtyard and popular disco. It is typical of the new boutique style bold where beer is brewed on the premises, there are a number of these hotels within the inner city area.
